About Us

The Missions Committee’s role is:

  • To encourage the church to make Christ known both here in the UK and abroad (Here, There, Over There).

  • To keep the church informed regarding our regular mission partners.

  • To offer support, where appropriate, for missional training/ enterprise.

  • To offer support for the Suffering Church.

St Mary’s Ferndown supports individual personnel and organisations engaged in the work of mission both supportive of mission and intentionally engaged in mission, and regularly supports the following persons and organisations:

  • Stephen & Tabitha Bell (Croatia)

  • Bible Society

  • Church Pastoral Aid Society (CPAS)

  • Simon & Sue Morgan (Uganda)

  • Gina Forbes (Romania)

At St Mary’s Ferndown, our aim is to encourage and to promote participation in The Great Commission of Christ, i.e. to go into all the World and make disciples. #SteppingOut

Mission organisations:

Stephen Bell (ECM)

Simon & Sue Morgan in Uganda

Simon and Sue Morgan in Uganda - Simon and Sue are members of St Mary's who undertook some short term trips with Mission Direct and felt that God was calling them to commit to mission work in Uganda - full-time! So they took a huge leap of faith - gave up their jobs, rented out their home and moved to Rukungiri. Simon is working with Mission Direct to head up their building project teams. Sue is now working with "Mission 4 Water" to drill essential water pumps providing clean, safe water for countless deprived communitites.

Other Mission Work Supported By St Mary’s Ferndown

Mission Direct  Several small groups have undertaken short term social work with Mission Direct to Sierra Leone. Mozambique and Uganda. www.missiondirect.org

Blessing Bin provides practically to those in need every week in Ferndown and not just at Harvest. There is a Blessing Bin at the back of church and in the hall foyer where we encourage church members to place  non-perishable food gifts. The Blessing Bins are emptied weekly and the food given to The Bus Stop Club which operates from the Turbary Centre to provide food parcels to those in need in our community. Why not regularly add an item to your shopping in order to bless someone else.

As a Fairtrade church  we are committed to the purchase and exclusive use of fairly-traded beverages at all our gatherings.
